Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture, is about an hour away by car or train from Osaka and Kobe.
Although it is a little far from the city, Sanda City is home to a vast natural satoyama.
With this plan, you can learn about the secrets and trivia of mushrooms while having fun visiting the production site of shiitake mushrooms, which are grown using logs, a method traditional in Japan, and which now accounts for less than 6% of the market.
(The food education experience takes about 60 minutes and will take you into the mountains, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothing.)
After the food education experience, you can try making jam using strawberries from Kasaya Strawberry Farm, which won a silver medal at Strawberry Expo 2024. You can take the jam you make home with you, making it perfect for eating during your trip or as a souvenir.

Shiitake Land Kasaya is a tourist farm in Sanda City with a history of 130 years.
For the past 50 years, it has been producing shiitake mushrooms grown on logs, a rare type of mushroom that makes up less than 6% of the total in Japan.
